SmartCalc Privacy Policy

Effective date: 24 May, 2026

Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how SmartCalc (“the App”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the App on your device. SmartCalc is a calculator and utility app designed to work primarily offline: basic and scientific calculations, unit conversion, EMI/loan, age, GST/tax, BMI, and percentage tools run on your device. We do not operate a user account system and we do not collect personal information on our own servers.

Summary

  • No sign-in — the App does not require an account.
  • On-device storage only — calculation history stays on your phone unless you use a system feature that shares data.
  • Advertising (Google AdMob) — the App may show a banner ad and limited full-screen (interstitial) ads when you use certain features. Ads require a network connection. In regions where required (for example the EU, UK, and EEA), you can manage ad consent from Settings → Ad choices.
  • No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs in the current App build (no Firebase Analytics, Sentry, etc.).
  • No sensitive permissions — the App does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, or location.

Information the App uses on your device

1) Calculation history (local storage)

What is stored
When you perform calculations, the App may save entries to your device, including the expression, result, category (general, finance, or scientific), whether the entry is pinned, and when it was created.
Purpose
To show your History tab, let you search and filter past calculations, pin favorites, restore a result to the calculator, and delete entries when you choose.
Storage
Stored locally on your device using on-device storage (AsyncStorage). We do not upload this history to a server.
Sharing/Transmission
History data stays on your device unless you explicitly share it through a system feature outside the App.

2) In-session calculator and tool inputs

What is used
Numbers and values you enter in the calculator and tools (for example, loan amount, birth date, height, weight, tax rate, or unit values) are processed on your device to show results.
Purpose
To perform calculations and display outputs while you use the App.
Storage
Current calculator and tool inputs are kept in memory during your session. They are not saved to history unless a completed calculation is added to History.
Sharing/Transmission
These inputs are not sent to our servers.

3) Bundled fonts and app assets

The App includes bundled fonts and icons so the interface works offline. These assets are part of the App package and are not used to collect personal information.

4) Advertising (Google AdMob)

What is used
When ads are shown, Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK) may process device and ad-related information, which can include your device advertising ID, IP address, app and device identifiers, ad interaction data, and coarse device information. Google may use this data to serve, measure, and personalize ads (where permitted by your consent and applicable law).
Purpose
To display banner ads in the App and occasional full-screen ads when you open tools from the Tools hub. Ads help support the free App. Calculator and tool features continue to work offline; ad requests occur only when an ad is loaded or shown and a network connection is available.
When ads appear
A banner may appear at the bottom of the main screens when Google has ad inventory (“fill”). A full-screen ad may appear after every few tool opens, subject to frequency limits built into the App. If no ad is available, the App continues without showing an ad.
Consent and your choices
In regions where Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) applies, the App may show a consent form on first launch and let you manage privacy options later via Settings → Ad choices. Outside those regions, Google may not show a consent form; you can still review how ads work in the App from the same Settings screen. You can also limit ad personalization in your device settings (for example Android: Settings → Google → Ads).
Third party
Google processes ad-related data as an independent controller under Google's Privacy Policy. See also How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps.

Network & third parties

The App does not send your calculation history or entered values to our servers. Network access may still occur in limited cases:

  • Google AdMob: when the App requests or displays ads, or when consent/privacy messaging is shown, data may be sent to Google as described above.
  • Operating system services: platform APIs used by the App framework (React Native) as part of normal app operation.
  • Store, share, or review flows (if you choose them): if you use Share app, Rate us, or open a Play Store or in-app review link from the App menu, those actions use your device's share sheet or store services operated by Google or Apple under their own policies.

We do not sell your personal information.

What we do NOT collect

Based on the current app configuration and dependencies, the App does not collect on our own servers:

  • Account information (no sign-in)
  • Precise location
  • Contacts
  • Camera, photos, or media library
  • Microphone or audio recordings
  • Analytics or crash-reporting data via third-party analytics SDKs (e.g., Firebase/Sentry)

Note on ads: we do not receive your calculation history or tool inputs for advertising. When ads are shown, Google AdMob may use device and advertising-related identifiers as described in the Advertising section above.

Sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your personal data with third parties because the App does not transmit your personal data to our servers. When you use ads, Google may receive ad-related data from your device as an independent service provider, as described above.

Data retention and deletion

  • Your calculation history remains on your device until you delete it in the App (for example, by deleting individual entries or using Clear All) or by clearing app data or uninstalling the App.
  • In-session calculator and tool inputs are cleared when you close the App or start a new calculation.
  • Ad consent choices managed through Google UMP are stored by the Mobile Ads SDK on your device. Resetting ad consent or clearing app data may cause the consent form to appear again where required by law.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect locally stored app data. No method of storage is completely secure.

Changes to this policy

If the App's data practices change, we will update this Privacy Policy and the effective date.
